Online shopping is growing in popularity. Most people around the worlds have online shopped at some point.
Business commerce released an article discussing their predictions for the online shopping trends for 2020. They had fourteen predictions, but today we are going to discuss three.
1. AR (augmented reality) improving they way people shop online
2. More ways to pay online
3. Sustainability
AR, or augmented reality, is a type of technology that allows the user to see something in the real world that is generated image made by a computer. For example, you are online shopping for a chair, but you are unsure if it will fit in the room or look nice with you other furniture. Some online sites allow you to use the camera on your phone, with their app, and virtual place the chair in your room. This option will allow more people to virtually "try" out products. This will create an increase in online sales because consumers will be able to "see" the products in real life before purchasing.
More and more businesses that sell products online, are providing a way for users to easily checkout when they are ready. Many websites "save" users billing information so the next virtual trip to the store will be much quicker. When the shopper goes to check out, they will not have to input any information, because it will already be there.
People are becoming more aware of their impact on Earth, especially if it is negative one. Companies have taken this into consideration and have made products and shipping process with a more green Earth in mind. This puts the shoppers conscious at ease when clicking the buy now button.
The easiness of shopping online is what entices most consumers. Not having to drive to the store in bad weather? Yes please!
Amazon is an up and coming giant in the online shopping world. The name has become recognizable to everyone. Big commerce also realized an article describing how many people visit Amazon's site each month. The number? 197 million people. Amazon has proven to do well for itself, as more and more people turn to the internet to shop.
Business 2 Community conducted a survey to discover people's opinions on online shopping. They found that 57% of people preferred online shopping, 31% preferred shopping in stores, and 12% felt the same about both options.
It is obvious that online shopping is on the rise and will keep increasing as technology advances. That does not many we can count out the physical stores. There are some products that need to be seen in person before being purchased.
